THE National Football Association of Swaziland raked in over E 600 000 (about N8, 295, 203million) in cash during the Sihlangu / Nigeria 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier match played on Friday at Somhlolo National Stadium.
Part of the money came from the TV rights deal, where the mother body received a sum of E250, 000 from SuperSport, who screened the match live.
A total of E295, 000 was made from the gate collections as impressive crowd of over 5, 000 watched the match.
An executive member speaking on condition of anonymity confirmed the figures to a Swazi daily last Sunday.
He said: “All these monies came from the Nigeria clash which caught the interest of international broadcasters that were in the country to provide a live coverage of the match. However, we incurred expenses as we catered for the match officials’ allowances and their accommodation. We also paid for Nigeria’s accommodation as per the procedure,” he said.
