Gombe Utd to screen players January

POISED to make its return to the topflight, Gombe United has concluded plans to screen players it intends to recruit ahead the kick-off of the Nigeria National League after the New Year celebrations.
NaijaSportsXtra gathered from an official of the Savannah Scorpions, Halilu Mohammed Teli.
"Top on our priority is to gain promotion at the end of the season. Recall we came close to picking one of the topflight tickets last year but lost it to Niger Tornadoes of Minna.
"So its going to be a different ball game this season, as we have started preparations early awaiting when the NNL management will conduct the draws and release the fixtures for this season.
"Our coaching on their part have been working round the clock to ensure that the best players are recruited.

"The players that they have spotted during the few friendlies we have so played and those invited from other clubs, will undergo a screening exercise immediately after the New Year," Teli said.
Recall the former FA Cup runners-up were relegated from the Nigeria Premier League two seasons ago.
