CHAN 2016: Home-Eagles nail Ivory Coast Elephants

By Rasaq Oboirien
NIGERIA'S Home-Based Eagles gave their CHAN quest a big boost as they defeated Ivory Coast 1-0 in a friendly played in Pretoria, South Africa.
The tune-up game was used by both teams to shape up for this month's African Nations Championship in Kigali.

Coach Sunday Oliseh made a few changes in the team that drew 1-1 with Angola's Palancas Negras last week as he started Nigeria Premier League second top scorer and Sunshine Stars ace, Adeniji alongside Bassey in the attack while Paul Onobi returned to the squad's midfield.
Nigeria came close to scoring the first goal in the 35th minute after Ibenegbu's well taken shot from close range hit the crossbar.
Ifeanyi Matthew then made his team efforts to count to the delight of the few fans at the University of Pretoria stadium, as his neat finish just before half time, saw Nigeria pip the Ivorians 1-0.
Meanwhile, the team is now expected to concluded their training by Wednesday, before jetting out to Kigali on January 15th.
