ABS FC book NPL ticket, thrash Gateway 4-1

By Rasaq Oboirien
ABS FC of Ilorin reclaimed its Nigeria Premier League status after thrashing Gateway FC of Abeokuta in a replay match at the Ilorin Township Stadium, reports NaijaSportsXtra.blogspot.com.
A brace from Ajibola Otegbeye and a goal each from Ibrahim Abdullahi and Muhammad Muhammad put to an end the confusion that marred the game less than two weeks ago after Gateway FC players and official refused to play the game on the grounds of inadequate security arrangement by the home team.
The development made the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Disciplinary Committee to call for a replay of the botched game.
Otegbeye put the Bukola Boys in front at the extra time of the first half saving their blushes.
He then doubled the lead in the 70th minute taking advantage from a poor clearance in a goal mouth melee.
Nine minutes later, Ibrahim Abdullahi put the shoreline at 3-0 finishing off from a Muhammad Muhammad assist.
With two minute left on the clock Bala Yahuza pulled one back for the visitors to make it 3-1.
Muhammad, then capped his brilliant form scoring ABS FC fourth goal of the evening to the delight of his mates and officials as the game was played under locks and keys.
The Ilorin team, Remo Stars, Gombe United and Katsina United will next season play topflight football in the Nigeria Premier League.
