LMC to kick-off new season from Week 2

By Rasaq Oboirien
THE League Management Company (LMC) may commence the 2015/16 Nigeria Premier League season from matchday 2 matches, NaijaSportsXtra can report.
This is owing to the failure of telecommunication operator, Globalcom to renew the title sponsorship deal and late registration of players by the 20 clubs.

NaijaSportsXtra gathered from a top brass of one of the club's in Ijebu-Ode that: "The season can't kick-off on February 21, rather a week later as the clubs have not completed the registration of their players.
"Before Glo pulled out from the league sponsorship, the LMC secretariat had sent the players registration forms to clubs with Glo logo but some days later resent new forms for us to fill without the telecommunication operator's logo on them.
"The development means the all process has to be started all over again."
On who most likely is to be the new sponsor of the country's domestic football, "Its for the LMC to decide between Zenith Bank and Etisalat," our source hinted.
Meanwhile, the following Week 2 matches Warri Wolves vs Pillars, Enyimba vs 3SC, Ifeanyi Ubah vs Nasarawa Utd and Akwa Utd vs Ikorodu Utd are also not expected to hold owing

to continental assignment as Enyimba, Wolves, Nasarawa Utd and Federations Cup winners, Akwa Utd will be playing the 2nd leg matches of the CAF Champions League and Confederations Cup respectively.
