THE 20 Nigeria Premier League club will this week or early next week know who the sponsor of the domestic football is, NaijaSportsXtra can report.
Recall telecommunication giants, Etisalat and Zenith Bank are the leading contenders after Globacom ended their sponsorship deal via mutual agreement with the League Management Company (LMC) after more than 14 years.
A source with one of the clubs hinted that: "Having started the season on a bright note, I heard from one of the LMC directors that the domestic league body would make known its new sponsors public before the end of this week or early next week.
"Etisalat and Zenith Bank are running to sponsor the league.
"The interesting part of this deal is that we could have more than one firm paying the bills of the country's domestic football," he said.
Kano Pillars currently leads the Nigeria Premier League log after their home victory against hard fighting Rangers International of Enugu while Shooting Stars are placed bottom after losing 0-1 to Lobi Stars of Makurdi at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba.
