KANO Pillars Baba Ganaru has stated that the Gold Cup pre-season victory against Giwa FC of Jos is a good morale booster for his players ahead the Nigeria Premier League kick-off in two weeks time.
The Masu Gida side three places behind the Jos team last season on 55points.
"It was a good game, both teams put in their best. I want to confirm to you that we are very much on course for the new NPL season as my players, old and new are beginning to understand themselves and play to my football philosophy.
"I need to give them little time for them to finally blend too," he told NaijaSportsXtra.
"The victory against a high profile team at the Gold Cup pre-season tourney means a lot to the players as it has build their confidence.
"You need to record this kind of victory to boost the team's winning mentality before we kick-off our campaign this season.
"So what I just need to do during my pep talk with the squad, is to tell each and everyone his mistakes for them to take correction."However, Pillars welcome Rangers International of Enugu to the Sani Abacha Stadium on matchday one.
