THE management of Sunshine Stars of Akure have informed that the plan of hiring a new coach is not in the agenda, rather measures to get the team to its winning ways is top priority.
Wahab Bannkole, spokesperson to the Owena Waves disclosed in a chat when asked if the club had made the position of the technical adviser vancant following the sacking of Coach Samson Unuannel after their matchday 4 defeat to MFM FC of Lagos.
"For now no coach has applied let alone my management announcing that it has called for entries from interested coaches to tender their applications.
"The plans of Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA) under a new leadership is to get the team to wining ways, by recording its first victory of the season."We believe that from there on, our players will begin to build their self confidence as its unheard off that a team who came close to picking a continental spot last season is yet to pick a maximum 3points and also among the bottom teams.
"Once we begin to get the desired results, then the management can now appoint a new substantive head coach."
Meanwhile, the internal wrangling between the ex-Kwara United coach and Technical Director of Sunshine Stars was said to have affected the players and fortunes of the club negatively.
The club then wasted no time to name Kayode Olujoungbe as interim coach ahead their matchday 5 home game against FC IfeanyiUbah which they drew 1-1.
Sunshine Stars who play away to Giwa FC of Jos on matchday 6 are placed 19th on the NPL log with 2points.
