VICTOR Makalala has hailed his Lobi Stars mates after they defeated Rivers United by a lone goal in a matchday 18 tie at the Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi, reports NaijaSportsXtra.
Makalala, who is camp with Rio Olympics bound Dream Team in Abuja missed the tie alongside suspended duo of Anthony Okpotu and Kingsley Eduwo.
"It was good result for the team, the players lived up to expectations, they didn't show signs of missing their top players against Rivers United.
"It showed that every player is important to the team, this I felt lifted their morale as its never easy playing against Dolphins/Sharks (now Rivers United).
"I was also following the live score of the game via the different social media platforms."
On the events at the Dream Team Abuja camp, the former Liberty Professional of Ghana ace stated that: "Training has been intense, the coaches too have shown they mean business sticking to the training schedule.
"However, my teammates and I have been adapting well, as we don't to go to the Olympics to make up the numbers. We want to win gold in the men football event."
Nigeria is in group b alongside Japan, Colombia and Sweden.
