MAMELODI Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane is confident that Kabelo “KB” Rangoaga will get the boys in much better shape ahead of the crucial clash against Nigerian giants Enyimba next week.
“You must remember that we only trained for two days effectively, but credit to KB and credit to the boys who showed that they are up to the task”, Mosimane said.
“Our preparation (for the clash against ES Setif) was not aggressive, but we were clear in our mind that we had nothing to lose. As a result, there was less pressure and less stress and we will take this same attitude forward”, he added.
“It was only on the last day of our preparations that we saw some strong work. But as you saw, a player like (Hlompho) Kekana was not at his best, organisationally and tactically and did not play the crucial passes that we expect of him. Leo (Leonardo Castro) was also not at his best, as he did not
have any training at all while he took care of his family – his newborn child was not well and this is what he had to focus on. We gave him an additional two days off. When we gave some of the boys time off (after the Setif game), Leo had to do additional work to get up to speed and we hope he
will be better soon. But we also hope all the boys will be sharper.”
The Head Coach has insisted that he will be using this CAF Champions League campaign to experiment and prepare for next year and their experience this year will help them in this task.
“We have another chance next year and that will be our major focus. We are not worried about our opponents, but will give everything all the same. I will not read anything into Enyimba’s loss to Zamalek on a very bad pitch”.
