Adequate security aids good officiating-Ogbeide

By Rasaq Oboirien
SUNSHINE Stars coach, Solomon Ogbeide has insisted that better security on our various stadia in the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) is the right antidote for poor officiating from referees, reports NaijaSportsXtra.blogspot.com.
"Our match officials are humans and husbands to wives and father to kids, so I wonder what one would get from them when they are to officiate games at match venues were there are little or no security personnel.

"Once the referee feels secured seeing a good number of policemen on ground, then he can do his/her job perfectly without the fear of been harassed when he/she make calls for or against the home or visiting team.
"That way, we'll begin to see the best of our referees in our league."
"I feel the League Management Company must also do more regarding the development of our domestic football in terms of better playing turfs, as I have seen a few bad pitches this season.
"In as much as the credit goes to them as the league has been better organised, they should task clubs to upgrade their pitches for the new season," he stated on Sports Radio, Brillafm Lagos.
On Sunshine Stars chances to win a silverware at the end of the campaign, the ex-Warri Wolves and Bayelsa United coach, has expressed optimism that his side can win the title.
"My team still within the reach of the NPL title, looking at the point difference between the top seven teams. It's 12 games to the season ending, we have to play six games at home and six away, so we intend to give it our best shot as the matches comes."
