RIVERS United, Godwin Anyalogu knows things must change if their title aspirations are to be put back on track and insists the ‘Pride of Rivers’ cannot contemplate any result other than a win on Thursday.
“It is not going to be an easy game. They are already down but they will try to pull some people down with them.
“We will not underrate them because they are like wounded Lions.
“We were fantastic in our last game against El Kanemi Warriors and we have to repeat the same while trying to score and win to make our fans proud,” Anyalogu told the media.
Ikorodu United will be without their Belgian coach, Theodorus Jacob de Jong who has failed to make the trip to Port Harcourt.
In de Jong’s absence, Shakiru Giwa will take the reins and he is optimistic his charges will not lose in Port Harcourt.
“Turnarounds always start from somewhere. Rivers United have won matches away from home and if it is destined that they will lose at home, I believe it will happen.
“And who knows, that team may be Ikorodu United.
“It does not matter whether they have never lost at home before or if Ikorodu United is in 19th place on the standings.
“I believe that we can surprise them and win especially if they underrate us,” he said.
Rivers United is currently in third place in the NPFL standings with 44 points from 27 matches while Ikorodu United occupies 19th place with 18 points from 25 matches.
