PRESIDENT of the Nigeria Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki on Wednesday commended the efforts of the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) Club Owners, reports NaijaSportsXtra.blogspot.com.
The ABS FC of Ilorin owner paid tributes to the club chairman who visited him in Abuja.
According to Saraki: "Pleasure receiving Association of Club Owners of Nigeria. If this meeting was three years ago, I would have been part of the delegation.
"Must commend effort of Club owners to make our domestic league, comparable to international leagues which is encouraging return to stadiums .
"All arms of govt must welcome those interested in using sports as a platform to provide socio-economic liberation for players and communities."
"There is no doubt that Nigerians love football, but we are yet to fully explore the economic potentials across the country.
"The Nigeria Senate is committed to developing legislation to provide an enabling environment for domestic investors to be able to invest in sports.
"We can't talk of football without recognizing our women. Falcons are current African Champions. And can win more titles with right support."
