By Rasaq Oboirien
COACH Abubakar Bala has hinted that for Niger Tornadoes to compete for honors this season, he would need to overhaul the squad, reports NaijaSportsXtra.blogspot.com.
"Our recruitment programme for last season I feel was too good as over 42 players were signed.
"So it really affected our performance. We'll beef up the team in all its departments, from goalkeeping to striking.
"For this season, we could sign some new players, as we have retained 20.
"The players we are retaining are all home grown.
"Twenty-two players have been placed on the transfer market. We will definitely kick off the season with over 30 players."
Asked if the the 'Ikon Allah Boys' will play with the home fans at the Bako Kontagora Stadium this season.
"The Confluence Stadium, Lokoja may still be our home ground for the up coming season as renovation works at the stadium are still on. We are hopeful that before the mid season break or as from matchday 20, the team will move to Minna."
