The former Eaglet and Flying Eagles defender was shot dead late Thursday night by unknown persons in Benin City, capital of Edo State.

"There was even an interest from MS Ashdod in Israel, a Cyprus premier league team and another Belgian Jupiler team on the table for him that we were studying. There was also another offer from an Argentine club, who sent their representative to Nigeria to see him and discuss a deal.
"What a great loss to Nigeria Football Federation, Nigeria U17 2014/15 and U20 2016 Male national team, Gombe United Football Club, Gara Gombe Ahmed Shuaibu, entire foot ball loving fans, his beloved family especially his father, mother, my sport firm and myself because he is one of my loyalist player/client.
"He is so honest, straight forward, patience, sincere, transparency, jovial and kind. May your soul rest in perfect peace (Amen).
