FIFA U-17: Joeys don't fear Nigeria-De Roo

FFA U-16/U-17 technical director Peter de Roo says the Joeys don't fear playing against FIFA U-17 holders, Nigeria in tonight's Round of 16 clash.
De Roo told the FFA that: “We’re really going to give it to Nigeria; we’re not sitting back,” de Roo said.
“We’re going to play like Aussies.
“That’s the guarantee we’re going to give to those watching.
“It’s not going to be easy, but we don’t fear any team in this competition.”
A win will see the Joeys progress to the Quarter Finals and date with the winner of Brazil and New Zealand.
If the scores are level at the end of 90 minutes, the match will forgo extra time and go directly to penalties.
de Roo said Nigeria would be a strong side, but the Joeys have already proven themselves as contenders.
“Nigeria is quality; they’re a powerhouse,” de Roo said.
“But we’ve already played against three powerhouses that came here with the goal to be world champions.
“This is the fourth one we’re playing, and we’re actually starting to enjoy coming up against these teams.
Nigeria had a strong start to the tournament and were one of the early favourites to claim the title.
They kicked off their campaign with a strong 2-0 win over USA, before flexing their muscle with a 5-1 thrashing of hosts Chile, before being brought back down to reality with a 2-1 loss to Croatia.
The Nigerians are also leading the goalscoring charts, with Victor Osimhen bagging four goals in the group stage – amazingly enough with a perfect shots to goals ratio.
