ALL is set for the third edition of Gold Cup Pre-Season Tourney as clubs have confirmed their participation.
2015 finalist Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, will lock horns against seven other teams from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), Nigeria National League (NNL) and Nigeria Nation-wide League (NNWL).
The 9-days soccer fiesta which will take place at Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu Ode between January 31 and
February 8, will feature the Oluyole Warriors, Kogi United FC of Lokoja, FC Ebedei of Sagamu, Remo Stars, Crown FC of
Ogbomosho, Ikorodu United FC of Lagos, Supreme Court FC of
Abuja and FC Yarmalight of Gombe.According to the General Coordinator of the tournament, Tunde
Shamsudeen stated that the draws of the tourney has been made
as thus; Group A Shooting Stars, FC Ebedei, FC Yarmalight,
and Supreme Court FC, while Group B will see newly promoted Ikorodu United battle Crown FC, Kogi United and Remo Stars for top spot.
He noted that the teams are expected to play three group matches with the first two teams with highest number of points qualify for the semi-finals.
"The tournament will be of high level and is basically to ignite the spirit of the game and to also help the teams test their players before the league season proper," Shamsudeen said.
