MARC Wilmots will lead Algeria's Desert Foxes to Uyo for next month's Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria, reports www.naijasportsxtra.blogspot.com.
According to a report from a journalist of beIN Sports , informed that the Federation of Algerian Football (FAF) and former Belgium national team coach agreed on a deal in principle.
Both parties are now expected to sign a formal contract by noon Friday in Brussels.
Recall Wilmots, 47, led Belgium 'Red Devils' to a 2-1 victory against the Desert Foxes in a group game at the last World Cup in Brazil, before being eliminated in the quarter-finals by Argentina.
Wilmots was recently axed by The Royal Belgian Football Association after the Red Devils poor form at the 2016 European Championship in France.
Belgium’s star-studded team, then ranked No2 in Fifa’s world rankings, lost 3-1 to Wales in the quarter-finals and generally underwhelmed during their time in France.
Algeria has been without a coach after Serbian Milovan Rejavac threw in the towel on grounds of intense pressure from the players after he lost the locker room after the 1-1 against the Indomitable Lions.
Nigeria lead Group B after its victory against Zambia's Chipolopolo in Ndola on matchday 1 of the qualifiers while Algeria and Cameroon who shared the spoils in Algiers are placed 2nd and 3rd respectively.
