Edowu: Rivers Utd result tonic for Lobi Stars

LOBI Stars forward, Kingsley Edowu says his side’s 0-0 draw with Rivers United on matchday 5 of the Nigeria professional football League is a big tonic that will spur the team to better performances in the ongoing season.
Rivers Utd had dominated the match for 20 minute, but three man defensive partnership of Anthony Agbaji, Denise Nya and Chinedu James was able to keep attacking force of River Utd at bay which lead to Lobi Stars taking command of the match from that point onward.
Speaking to pressmen after the match, Kingsley Edowu expressed satisfaction with the performance of his team mates and the result of the match.
He said by their sterling performance against such a star studded team, Lobi Stars deserved the point they got from the highly entertaining match.
Edowu said the draw would go a long way in bringing the much needed confidence saying after losing their opening matches against shooting stars and MFM respectfully it's important they perform this way as it will help gain back their Confidence.
"For us this is a massive result. To force the Champions League team to a goalless draw in their home is not a small achievement.
“Before this match, I said if we would manage to get something out of it, it would be the turning point for us. I knew what my team mates are cable of doing.
“Although we lost heavily to MFM, we returned home to beat ABS and now we have held Rivers Utd to draw.  This is no doubt a great performance against one of the best club in the league.”

Kingsley therefore call on all Lobi Stars fans to rally behind their darling club as this season will be something spectacular for the Makurdi based football Club.
“We hope to keep working on our concentration level. This is the turning point. We have done it against Rivers Utd and the self-belief is going to be greater now,” he said.
