Kwara refs school ABS FC players, coaches on new laws

 
MOHAMMED Mohammed his mates, coach Henry Makinwa and his Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) Ilorin FC assistants were on Saturday lectured by the Kwara Council of the Nigeria Referee Association (NRA) on the new amendments in the laws of the game. 
The lecture which took place inside the main bowl of the Kwara Stadium Complex because of practical examples was led by the council's head of training, Bolatito Issac, a retired premier League Referee. 
The players were reminded of  amendments in their equipment which has to do with colour combinations and anything that may be injurious to the player or his opponents.

ABS could have beaten Tornadoes-Makinwa

 

"I came here to win but they didn't allow me because they are a good side too," these were the words of a delighted Henry Makinwa after his Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC of Ilorin shared the spoils in Lokoja with Niger Tornadoes.
The former Real Socidad of Spain attacker, also blamed fatigue on his boys' performance, saying a game on Sunday and a trip to Lokoja was too much for his players.
"I think fatigue affected both of us, we played 48 hours ago and both of us had to make long journey to play again.
"We are going home to restrategise against Ifeanyi Ubah, you know it's not going to be easy but we will try to take the three points at stake, the spirit lives on" Makinwa said.
The Saraki Boys started the game chasing their own shadows before they got their grove back in the 22nd minute.
Mohammed Mohammed who scored the Saraki Boys first goal of the season against Akwa United on Sunday in Ilorin gave ABSFC the lead thirty minutes into the game.
Mohammed followed a Stone Evbuomwan pass from the midfield, picked up the ball, drove into the Tornadoes defense displaced an onrushing defender
before he lobbed the ball over Mustapha Aliko in goal for Niger Tornadoes.
Ebenezer Odeyemi capitalized on a defensive blunder to equalise seven minutes later as he netted from a goal mouth scramble.

Enyimba, Rangers fail to make Africa top 20 clubs

SEVEN times Nigeria Premier League champions, Enyimba FC of Aba and current title holders, Rangers International of Enugu failed to make the top 20 of the African clubs ranking list, according to the FootballDatabase system.
NaijaSportsXtra.blogspot.com gathered from the list that the People's Elephants were rated as the best team in Nigeria after been placed 28th with 1,437points.
Rangers who were beaten at home on matchday one by Oriental Derby rival, Abia Warriors were rated 44th in latest ranking released on 15 January.
Surprisingly, Warri Wolves made the top 10 Nigeria best clubs depicted been relegated to the Nigeria National League (NNL) at the end of last season.
Meanwhile, Cairo giants, Al Ahly of Egypt were rated as the continent best club, as current Champions League holders, Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa were rated 14th.
