Prime ends NNL 1st round on high note
PRIME FC has ended the first round of the Nigeria National League (NNL) on a high note after it shared spoils with Bussdor FC of Owerri on Tuesday.
Bussdor made an energetic start and capitalized on a defensive blunder for Oliver Tochukwu to struck the opener in the 5th minute at the Aba Township Stadium.
Prime after conceding the early minute goal remained the more purposeful side, exploiting the pace of their wingers to break forward.
After 38 minutes, as the Omoluabi Giants laboured for creativity, Wale Bello was brought on to replace Olabisi Olagunju, who added firepower to Prime's attack.
At the interval, Prime raised their game and immediately forced a breakthrough.
The Omoluabi Giants drew level on 63 minutes when highly influential winger, Daniel Israel, who orchestrated the best moments for Prime, served Robert Ogundu, with a cross to beat Bussdor goalkeeper with a low shot into the top left corner.
Israel’s dazzling skills were in abundant evidence as his polished footwork ran the Igbokwe Boys ragged but his crosses were not utilized.
Prime stayed in control of the game, with Referee Okorie turning down Prime's penalty appeal but showed great co-ordination to control the match and ended the game in attacking mode.
The vital point picked shot Prime FC to third on the log with 10 points from 7 matches.
