Rangers, Rivers Utd, Wikki, Ifeanyi Ubah vie for CAF's $3.8m largesse

NIGERIA'S representatives in next season's Confederation of African Football (CAF) inter club championships, Rangers, Rivers United, Wikki Tourist and FC Ifeanyi Ubah will compete for a share from the $3.8m (about 1.2billion naira) largesse, reports NaijaSportsXtra.blogspot.com.
A statement from Cairo revealed that CAF has increased its prize money for both the Champions League and Confederation Cup winners.
Both Rangers International of Enugu who emerged league champions of Nigeria after 32years and runners-up Rivers Utd stand a chance to claim a whooping sum of $2.5m if the dethrone Sundowns of South Africa and giants, Zamalek, TP Mazembe, Esperance, others for the Champions League title.
While Wikki Tourist and Federations Cup winners, FC Ifeanyi Ubah can go $1, 250,000m richer if the win the continent second tier inter club title.
A breakdown of the new prize money by CAF informed that the Flying Antelopes and Rivers Utd will earn $1, 250, 000 as runners-up, $875, 000 as semi finalists and $650,000 if they bow out in the last 8.
Both teams could also earn $550,000 each if they finish in the group stages as 3rd or 4th respectively.
For the Confederations Cup, Ganaru led Wikki and rich spending Anambra Warriors could earn $1, 250, 000 if the win the title or $625,000 if the lose in the finals.
They can claim as much as $450,000 and $350,000 if they are knocked out of the competition in the semi and quarter-final.
Ifeanyi Ubah who is making its debut in the continent and Wikki who featured in the 2008 edition will pocket the sum of $275,000 each if they fail to qualify from their respective groups.
